Cranbrook RCMP Report

The following is a synopsis of calls received by Cranbrook RCMP for the week (from 6 a.m.) July 9 to 6 a.m., July 16.

Police handled 161 calls for service throughout this week.

Among the calls police handled…

Six impaired driving.

Five collisions in the city: One collision between vehicle and cyclist, minor injuries and cyclist was charged under the Motor Vehicle Act; and four other collisions were between vehicles and resulted in minor injury and/or property damage.

Two collisions outside the city: Including a vehicle collision in Moyie resulting in injuries to multiple parties and property damage; and a vehicle vs deer incident.

13 driving complaints: Eight in the city and five were highway/ rural.

One hit and run: still under investigation.

Eight assaults: Including three domestic assaults where arrests were made in each instance with charges pending. Also, a victim was struck when confronting an individual drinking liquor in public, with an arrest made and the suspect held in custody until sober; an assault where mental health issue was a factor, no injuries; an assault by unknown assailant at a bar, no injuries; police officer assaulted while dealing with an unruly individual, no injuries; and a family dispute that got physical, no injuries.

10 Mental Health Act related calls: three assist East Kootenay Regional Hospital.

Six thefts.

One shoplifting.

Two theft from auto: Parts taken from a vehicle in the industrial park; theft of phone, with parties known to each other and phone returned.

Three theft 0ther: Including a theft of antique handgun and camera lens; unfounded theft of documents; theft of money that was for drug use.

Two break and enter to residence: Culprit(s) entered an unlocked residence and stole jewellery and a firearm; matter is still under investigation/ one matter was unfounded.

Three damage to property: Including damage to vehicle by a family member, no charges; window damage by BB pellet; damage to a vehicle.

Two drug seizures: Crystal meth and cannabis. More information will be made available on the crystal meth bust later.

20 false alarms and false 911 calls.
