Cranbrook RCMP Report

The following is a synopsis of calls reported to Cranbrook RCMP for the period between 6 a.m. Sept. 24 to Oct. 1, at 6 a.m.
Calls for Service: 146
One impaired driving: (alcohol).
One collision in the city: A two-vehicle collision with a minor injury sustained by one of the drivers; one of the drivers charged under the Motor Vehicle Act for failing to yield on left turn.
Four collisions outside the city: Two collisions with wildlife; other two collisions involved a single vehicle in each instance with cause being driver error resulting in vehicle going off the road.
12 driving complaints: Four in the city and eight outside the city.
Two hit and runs: A parking lot hit and run, suspect located and charged for fail to remain at scene; parked car hit on 9th Avenue South, with no suspects.
Six assaults: Including three domestic assaults; one familial; assault by roommate; and a police officer was assaulted during apprehension of a suspect where the suspect was breaching a conditional sentence order. In addition to the charge for breaching conditions, police are recommending a charge of possession of what is suspected to be crystal meth for the purpose of trafficking, assaulting a peace officer, resisting arrest, obstructing a police officer and taking a motor vehicle without consent. The officer was not injured.
Nine Mental Health Act related calls: Four assist East Kootenay Regional Hospital.
11 thefts.
Two shoplifting.
Two theft of auto: Both recovered in the Moyie rural area.
Four thefts from autos: A vehicle was broken into in the Moyie area where a wallet was stolen, tires slashed and two stolen vehicle were recovered; attempt by a group of youths trying vehicle doors; report of a suspect breaking into a vehicle that turned out to be the owner of the vehicle; a vehicle broken into in the Jaffray area where hunting gear and a wallet with cash were stolen.
Four thefts other: A theft of laptop and debit machine from local business and related to the recovered stolen vehicles indicated above, matter still under investigation; coin laundry broken into at apartment building; report of theft unfounded; theft of movies by person known to the complainant; theft of clothing by renter.
One attempted break and enter to local downtown business, no entry was gained.
One break and enter to a residence: A drunk male walked into the wrong house, no charges.
Two damage to property: A tire was slashed; and mischief to election signs.
Two drug seizures: marijuana.
Two drug trafficking Cocaine and methamphetamine (more to come on that).
10 false alarms and false 911 calls.
