Cranbrook RCMP Report
The following is a synopsis of calls received by Cranbrook RCMP for the week (from 6 a.m.) Dec. 26 to 6 a.m., Jan. 3.
Police handled 141 calls for service throughout this week.
Among the calls police handled…
One impaired driver – alcohol.
10 collisions: three in town / seven outside of town…weather being a major factor in these collisions. One fatality Hwy 3/95 at Moyie. No major injuries in other collisions.
Two Hit and Runs.
Four Mental Health Act calls / two calls to assist to hospital with mental health patient – two apprehended.
Three assault complaints: one domestic in nature / two others were unfounded complaints.
Seven thefts reported: one theft of a vehicle – recovered the next day located by the owner; one theft of a Yamaha snowmobile from a Gold Creek property – Blue 2009 Yamaha Nitro. Five other thefts: three were unfounded/ another theft of jacket from local gym/ theft of a snow blower that was left in the carport.
Two break and enter to residences – both were unfounded…one due to neighbours hearing large icicles falling near an unoccupied apartment residence and one due to what was thought to be a vacant residence being looked after by family members…in both cases GOOD NEIGHBOURS looking out for each other.
Four reports of property damage: couple of vehicles had tires slashed…unrelated to each other/ broken window / family dispute resulted in broken TV.
One drug seizure – marijuana.
20 false alarms/ false 911 complaints
One person arrested for intoxication in public place.
New Year’s Eve was fairly uneventful with the majority of people behaving and being responsible. Police conducted check-stops of over 150 vehicles that evening and no one impaired at all!
