Cranbrook RCMP Report
The following is a synopsis of calls received by Cranbrook RCMP for the week (from 6 a.m.) Feb. 6 to 6 a.m., Feb. 13.
Police handled 125 calls for service throughout this week.
Among the calls police handled…
Four impaired drivers – alcohol.
12 Collisions: four in town/ eight outside of town… no major injuries, mostly property damage. In four of the incidents a driver was charged for Motor Vehicle Act offences. (Most occurred during the heavy snowfall Feb 8/9).
Four Hit and Runs – minor damage reported.
Five Mental Health Act calls – two apprehended/ two assistance to Hospital.
Seven assault complaints: two domestic in nature.
Nine thefts reported: three shoplifting; two thefts from vehicles – in one case, a teenaged female was arrested and facing charges for theft and possession of stolen property.
Four other thefts – including a snowboard left unattended by owners, a purse snatched from a shopping cart but later recovered minus a little bit of cash, a cell phone which was recovered by police. And a quick change scam at a grocery store where a male asked to break large bills then changes his mind after employee hands over money but only hands the employee back a portion of the broken down bills.
