Cranbrook RCMP Report

The following is a synopsis of calls received by Cranbrook RCMP for the week (from 6 a.m.) May 29 to 6 a.m., June 5.

Police handled 144 calls for service throughout this week.

Among the calls police handled…

One impaired driver.

Five collisions: four in town and one outside of town that involved a police pursuit where the suspect rammed two police vehicles. All the incidents resulted in minor injury or property damage.

10 Mental Health Act calls – three apprehended/ two assist East Kootenay Regional Hospital.

10 assault complaints: four domestic in nature with three of the investigations resulting in arrest and charges/ one assault was unfounded/ one road rage incident where blows were exchanged and one party pulled out a bat and hit the other driver injuries were minor (more will be reported on this soon) and four other incidents where there were none to minor injuries.

Four thefts reported, including: one shoplifting; one stolen motor vehicle recovered (again, refer to the smash up derby from last week); one theft from a motor vehicle and a theft of liquor from a vehicle that resulted in the arrest of young male.

One other theft was reported but was later proven unfounded.

One report of bike theft from a yard: it was recovered by police fairly quickly and returned to the owner.

Three break and enters to a residence: two were unfounded and the other resulted in a flat screen TVs being stolen. RCMP is waiting for forensic evidence to be analyzed.

Three reports of property damage: all three related to domestic/ family violence issues.

One drug seizure – marijuana.

16 false alarms/ false 911 complaints.
