Cranbrook RCMP Report
The following is a synopsis of calls received by Cranbrook RCMP for the week (from 6 a.m.) July 10 to 6 a.m., July 17.
Police handled 181 calls for service throughout this week.
Among the calls police handled…
One impaired driver
Four collisions – two in town (persons charged in two of the incidents); two outside of town where one involved wildlife and another was a single vehicle rollover. All collisions resulted in either a non-fatal injury and/or damage to vehicles.
Eight Mental Health Act calls – two apprehended / four assist East Kootenay Regional Hospital.
Five assault complaints: four domestic in nature where two of the investigations resulted in arrest and charges. One other incident was minor in nature; between family members.
18 thefts reported. Three for shoplifting; six thefts from motor vehicles. Jewellery/ wallet/ wish cash and ID and two insurance decals off license plates. All vehicles involved were unlocked when broken into. Five other thefts: paddle boards JimSmith Lake area; theft of jewellery; theft of food and gas by a tenant of a residence; theft by employee from local business (times two). Four reports of bike thefts: three of the four bikes were not locked up and sitting against wall of business building.
One Break and Enters to business: front door smashed out but nothing was stolen.
Three reports of property damage: damage to a vehicle/ fence of a residence and business in rural area.
Four drug seizures – marijuana and Crystal Meth; grow op.
16 false alarms/ false 911 complaints.
