Cranbrook RCMP Report

The following is a synopsis of calls received by Cranbrook RCMP for the week (from 6 a.m.) July 24 to 6 a.m., July 30.

Police handled 173 calls for service throughout this week.

Among the calls police handled…

12 collisions – seven in town and five outside of town. There was a double fatality crash on Highway 3/93 east of the city on July 28 and the other collisions resulted either in a non-fatal injury and/or damage to vehicles.

Four Mental Health Act calls – none apprehended/ one assist East Kootenay Regional Hospital.

Five assault complaints: three were domestic in nature; however one of those incidents proved to be unfounded. An arrest was made in the other two domestic incidents. One incident occurred at a party where the victim received a broken jaw but at this moment not cooperating with police and another incident between parties known to each other, no injury.

12 thefts reported: four shoplifting; one stolen motor vehicle: unfounded as complainant forgot where he parked. Two thefts from a motor vehicle, including one with a vehicle unlocked and a wallet and ID stolen/theft of a rear plate. Three other thefts: large industrial sized tarps; theft of Sea-doos and a trailer sometime between October and last week and one unfounded theft. And two reports of bike theft: Black and Gold Kona Minxy Women’s 10 speed stolen off a back of a travel trailer while parked at a business.

Two break and enter to residence: one attempt no entry made and one where a male entered the residence unlawfully looking for someone else and assaulted an occupant over what is believed to be mistaken identity; no injuries and no charges requested

Three reports of property damage: two drivers got into an argument and one driver broke the other’s vehicle mirror (charges pending if restorative justice action fails). A fence gate was broken/ kids moving around lawn ornaments in a neighbourhood.

Four drug seizures – marijuana/ cocaine/ crystal meth/ methadone, including a major multiple drug bust.

11 false alarms/ false 911 complaints.
