Cranbrook RCMP Report

The following is a synopsis of calls received by Cranbrook RCMP for the week (from 6 a.m.) Oct. 16 to 6 a.m., Oct. 23.

Police handled 160 calls for service throughout this week.

Among the calls police handled…

Two impaired drivers – alcohol.

Six collisions: four in town (property damage and/or minor injuries were incurred); two out-of-town involving wildlife.

Two hit and runs; the offending vehicle has been identified in one case, the other occurred in a parking lot and a suspect has not been identified.

Eight Mental Health Act calls – three apprehended and one assistance to East Kootenay Regional Hospital.

Six assault complaints, including four domestic in nature. One assault was the result of a dispute between two party-goers known to each other. There was also a stabbing (non life threatening injury).

15 thefts reported including: seven shoplifting; Theft of an auto; one report where a vehicle was recovered in the City of Lethbridge a couple of days later; Five thefts from vehicles reported, with one occurring several months ago. One report resulted in police discovering seven vehicles in the area of 4 Street NW that had been entered. All vehicles were left unlocked/insecure. Theft of a bicycle and a one report where the bicycle had been located by the owner.

Two break and enters to businesses reported; nothing was stolen in one incident. The other was discovered after police were alerted to two suspicious males during the early morning hours of October 18. Police attended and were unable to locate suspects but recovered stolen property from a nearby business that was broken into.

One break and enter to residence reported but nothing was stolen; however, damage was done to the unit. Police continue to investigate.

Four reports of property damage: one report unfounded; one involved a female trying to punch a truck but no damage incurred; one report of damage to fencing; one outside of town where a hunter found a bullet hole in the hood of his vehicle.

One drug seizure: marijuana

21 false alarms/false 911 complaints.
