Cranbrook RCMP Report
The following is a synopsis of calls received by Cranbrook RCMP for the week (from 6 a.m.) Oct. 23 to 6 a.m., Oct. 30.
Police handled 169 calls for service throughout this week.
Among the calls police handled…
One impaired driver resulting in a 90-day prohibition; also one three-day prohibition and one 24-hour prohibition.
11 collisions, including a pedestrian collision on Theatre Road that resulted in the death of a 25-year-old resident. Also, eight collisions in town where property damage and/or minor injuries were incurred, two out-of-town involving wildlife. Cranbrook Municipal General Investigation Section and Crime Reduction Unit also assumed lead for an injury accident in Elk Valley’s jurisdiction. The incident involved a stolen vehicle and a Jaffray area resident already subject of charges out of Cranbrook.
Three hit and runs; with an offending vehicle identified in two cases and charges laid. The other occurred in a parking lot and a suspect has not been identified.
Six Mental Health Act calls – two apprehended and one assistance to East Kootenay Regional Hospital.
12 assault complaints, including four domestic in nature and one attempted assault involving a road rage incident.
12 thefts reported including: six for shoplifting; theft of an auto; one report involving a property dispute; thefts from vehicles, including one report where the registration decal was taken. Also, one theft of a bicycle.
Eight reports of property damage; two involved broken windows at businesses.
Three drug seizures: marijuana; unknown pills and unknown powder.
Three false alarms.
16 false 911 complaints.
