Cranbrook RCMP Report
The following is a synopsis of calls received by Cranbrook RCMP for the week (from 6 a.m.) Dec. 25 to 6 a.m., Jan. 1.
Police handled 116 calls for service throughout this week.
Among the calls police handled…
Three impaired driving: two alcohol, one drug.
Three collisions in the city.
Two collisions outside the city. Collisions mostly related to weather conditions and/or poor driving. Mostly property damage and some minor injury.
Nine assaults: (three domestic in nature; three family disputes; two assaults where the suspects and victims knew each other; and a nurse assaulted, minor in nature.
Six Mental Health Act related calls; two assist East Kootenay Regional Hospital.
Thefts:
One shoplifting.
One theft from auto: (Bully Dog engine programmer, Garmin GPS, black leather CD case with numerous CDs, and black leather Bentley women’s gloves among items stolen). The vehicle was parked at local hotel parking lot.
One theft of auto: A cube van was stolen from the industrial area on Slater Road. The vehicle was located in Nelson and two suspects are being charged for possession of stolen property.
One theft other.
Two break and enters to residences. Entry to a garage made and some items stolen, while the other was unfounded.
One damage to property: a vehicle was egged.
One drug seizure: marijuana – no charges.
10 false alarms and false 911 calls.
New Year’s Eve
New Years Eve was relatively good. Cranbrook RCMP checked in excess of 500 vehicles at various checkstops throughout the evening and took two impaired drivers off the road and handed one breach of conditions. Very few liquor infractions were noted.
