Cranbrook RCMP Report
The following is a synopsis of calls received by Cranbrook RCMP for the week (from 6 a.m.) Jan. 1 to 6 a.m., Jan. 8.
Police handled 138 calls for service throughout this week.
Among the calls police handled…
Two impaired driving: alcohol.
Six collisions: four in the city; two outside the city.
Three hit and runs: Two in parking lots where parked cars were struck and one where the TD building was struck. A suspect in one of these hit and runs is facing charge of failing to remain on scene of accident.
11 assaults: five domestic in nature; one workplace violence (a liquor store employee was assaulted when a male tried to steal a case of beer); three assaults where suspect and victim knew each other; and one assaulting a police officer.
11 Mental Health Act related calls: One apprehended.
Three thefts: Two for shoplifting: (including the one where an employee was assaulted when a male tried to steal case of beer. The male was located and is being charged with theft and assault. One theft from mailboxes rural area.
One break and enter to business: A business on Slater Road had its fenced compound broken into but it appears nothing was stolen.
Two damage to property: Vehicle tire slashed and window smashed out. Suspects were arrested and a search warrant was executed on January 4, where drugs, BB guns, ammunition, prohibited weapons and stolen property were seized at an apartment unit at the 2200 block of 12th Street North.
Two drug seizures: marijuana – no charges.
11 false alarms and false 911 calls.
