Cranbrook RCMP Report
The following is a synopsis of calls received by Cranbrook RCMP for the week (from 6 a.m.) Feb. 26 to 6 a.m., March 5.
Police handled 135 calls for service throughout this week.
Among the calls police handled…
Five impaired driving: four for alcohol and one for drugs.
Four collisions in the city: all minor in nature.
10 collisions outside the city: many of the collisions were single vehicle where minor injury and/ or collision damage occurred. Road conditions were a contributing factor and half of these accidents occurred last Friday (March 2) during the heavy snowfall throughout the day and evening. One incident resulted in a drug seizure and arrest of a male and female.
Two hit and runs: they occurred in a parking lot at a shopping outlet, minor damage.
Three assaults: one domestic report/ one assault by family member/ one incident where male was stabbed, receiving a non life threatening injury. The matter is still under investigation with no suspects in custody and very little cooperation from victim.
Seven Mental Health Act related calls: two apprehensions and three assist East Kootenay Regional Hospital.
Four thefts.
Three shoplifting.
One theft other: theft of fuel from rural area, matter still under investigation.
One break and enter to residence: suspect arrested and charges pending.
One break and enter other: a generator was stolen from an insecure detached garage in a rural area. A Honda Generator was stolen.
Three damage to property incidents A fence was spray painted; old building tiles kicked off. And a victim reported window being hit with bullets. Cranbrook RCMP General Duty and Police Dog Service attended and tracked suspect back to his residence where he was arrested without incident. Damage caused by what appears to be BB gun; suspect is a local male youth.
Two drug seizures: marijuana.
One drug trafficking: marijuana.
13 false alarms and false 911 calls.
