Calls of note included:
Cranbrook RCMP responded to a 911 call from a woman who reported being lost, anxious, and injured. The caller was unable to provide her location; extensive patrols were conducted. However, she was not located. Officers then engaged the support of the Remote Piloted Air System (drone) and Police Dog Services.
Through coordinated efforts and effective use of specialized resources, the woman was located in a forested area where she had fallen asleep under a tree. She was safely attended to and provided with the necessary assistance. We are thankful for the professionalism and commitment of our officers, as well as the value of collaboration between units in ensuring positive outcomes for those in need.
After conducting a traffic stop officers determined that the vehicle had been associated to a previous theft and suspected drug activity. One occupant was well known to police and easily identified, and after extensive queries the second occupant was identified and determined to have outstanding warrants for their arrest.
Further investigation determined this individual was also breaching a release order, carrying a concealed weapon and driving while prohibited. The vehicle was impounded, and the individual was arrested and transported to Cranbrook cells for a bail hearing. The individual was remanded into custody and transported to a corrections facility by BC Sheriffs.
Our officers booked 13 individuals into Cranbrook cells including two individuals held for public intoxication and two individuals arrested on outstanding warrants.
In addition to calls for service, officers were also out conducting curfew checks and proactive patrols which resulted in two Immediate Roadside Prohibitions (IRPs) being issued and three instances of breach charges being forwarded.
We also were able to participate is some great community events, visits with local schools, as well as community bike registration events.
