Cranbrook water deemed safe

Following further monitoring and testing, the Environmental Health Office has notified the City of Cranbrook that its potable water is confirmed to be fully safe for consumption as per Interior Health’s standards.

Monday’s quick power surge temporarily impacted the city’s chlorination system, and although backup generators were initiated, a small amount of untreated water made it through the system for about 25 minutes.

Public Works crews were able to isolate and flush the majority of the untreated water, but out of an abundance of caution, the city advised that some residents may wish to boil their water or use other water alternatives.

There was no major public health concern at the time, however, the notice from the Environmental Health Office on Friday confirms the safety of the city’s potable water.
