Crime Reduction Unit makes drug bust

The Cranbrook/ Kimberley Crime Reduction Unit, along with General Duty members of the Cranbrook RCMP Detachment and the Police Dog Service June 2 executed a search warrant in the 300 block of 8th Ave S.

Members conducted a search of the residence and located evidence to corroborate drug trafficking.

Two persons, a male and a female, were arrested on scene and were transported to the Cranbrook RCMP Detachment.

A 42-year-old male and a 32-year-old female, both residents of Cranbrook, are facing charges of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking and Possession of a Scheduled Substance. Both are to appear in court September 6.

“The Crime Reduction Unit has been working tirelessly trying to keep drugs off the streets of Cranbrook. No city is immune to the effects of drugs but the collective teamwork of the detachment is definitely quelling the influx of drugs into Cranbrook,” stated Cst. Katie Forgeron of Cranbrook RCMP.
