Cruiser crammed with $7,500 in food, cash
Thank you Cranbrook!
On Friday (Dec. 16), Cranbrook RCMP officers and Auxiliary Constables and employees from the Real Canadian Superstore braved the cold for a fantastic cause.
On Friday, December 16, Cranbrook RCMP officers were set up at the Real Canadian Superstore to bring awareness and donations to the Cranbrook Food Bank. Members of the RCMP, along with Superstore staff, were on site between 10:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. filling the police truck with food, gift cards and non-perishable items.
By the end of the day citizens of Cranbrook and surrounding area had surpassed all expectations and donated over $6,500 worth of food items and over $1,000 in cash donations to help the Cranbrook Food Bank make it through the Christmas season and into the New Year.
“We continue to be amazed by the generosity of the people of Cranbrook and area. Collecting that much food for the food bank went beyond our expectations. Thank you Cranbrook for helping make this an amazing start to the Holiday Season,” said Cst. Katie Forgeron.
Cranbrook RCMP would also like to thank the generous souls who brought coffee, hot chocolate and, yes, donuts, while we were standing outside.
“It was a cold day and having people think of us in that way was pretty special,” Forgeron said.
