Drug Alert issued for Cranbrook area
Interior Health (IH) Nov. 28 issued a Drug Alert for the Cranbrook area, warning about a substance being sold as Down containing Bromazolam.
Bromazolam is a benzodiazepine with a duration of five to eight hours. Benzodiazepines produce amnesia and sedation.
The drug is a green dark pebble being sold as “Down, Dope, Fentanyl.”
It contains Bromazolam (50%) and Fentanyl (13%).
Risk: High risk of overdose, high risk of fatal overdose. Mixing with alcohol can be especially dangerous.
Focus on breathing if naloxone appears to not resolve overdose symptoms.
Smoking is not safer than injecting.
