E-Scooter safety reminders for Cranbrook

Ride Smart, Ride Safe

Riders using Bird Canada’s e-scooters around Cranbrook this summer are reminded to please use them safely and responsibly – not only for your safety, but of those around you.

Improper use can lead to collisions with pedestrians, vehicles, or other riders.

To help reduce the risk of injury and ensure a smooth experience for everyone, there are important safety tips you need to know:

  • Obey all traffic laws, signs, and signals. E-Scooters fall under the Motor Vehicle Act and are treated like all other motorized vehicles when it comes to road rules.
  • Use e-Scooters only where allowed: You can use scooters in bike lanes, on roads with a speed limit of 50 km/h or lower, and on multi-use pathways. Sidewalk use is not allowed. If there’s no bike lane, stay as far to the right on the road as safely possible.
  • Use helmets and ride only one person – no passengers.
  • On multi-use paths, alert pedestrians, and other users —just like cyclists are expected to do.

Concerns or misuse can be reported via the Bird app or by email at [email protected]. Riders

can also learn more about scooter safety at Bird Canada’s Safety Page.

Let’s keep everyone safe—ride smart and follow the rules.
