Gyro Park playground work underway

Work is underway today at Gyro Park to prepare for the installation of new playground equipment.

City of Cranbrook Public Works is removing the old equipment this week and will be preparing the site for the new equipment, which is scheduled to be installed starting on August 8.

Installation work is expected to take a week or two to complete and includes a combination of modular units and some stand-alone stations.

As a result of the work, the playground area will be blocked off and not available for public use. The new tennis and pickleball courts will remain accessible.

The City of Cranbrook apologizes for any inconvenience and appreciates the patience of park users and nearby residents while this work is being done.

Installation of the new playground equipment is the second component of the overall upgrades to Gyro Park, thanks to the Columbia Basin Trust’s (the Trust) Recreation Infrastructure Grant program. The Trust grant of $120,000 makes up the lion’s share of the overall project budget of $180,000, which included the upgrades to the Gyro Park tennis courts and construction of the four new pickleball courts, officially opened by the city and the Trust last week.
