Hilarious Mike Delamont returns to Key City Oct. 6
The Devil is coming to town and he wants to clarify a few things.
Comedian Mike Delamont’s ‘Hell Yeah! An Evening With the Devil’ is coming to Key City Theatre October 6. This is his latest offering after his hit series God is a Scottish Drag Queen.
This Devil is not quite like the one burned into our collective minds; the one with red skin over rippling muscles, horns, a pitchfork and pointy tail.
Yes, he’s the same size as God — about 6-foot-7, 300 pounds, dressed instead in a red (of course) cardigan and matching tie, black shirt and slacks, sneakers and black framed glasses and sporting a tidy little moustache and neatly combed hair.
“I am not evil! . . . Maybe a bit of a dick.”
In fact, the Devil argues God was evil “and then, of course, he found Jesus and everything was fine.”
“I thought, ‘That’s not fair!’ So, I left. I quit Heaven and I decided to make Hell great again . . . People don’t know my story. I didn’t ‘fall from Heaven’ . . . I just tripped a little, you know, and did one of those little stutter steps hoping no one would notice.”
The Devil has all kinds of explanations for the myths surrounding his existence, such as why there’s a Highway to Hell but only a Stairway to Heaven.
And he’s full of opinions about the Devil’s music (rock ‘n’ roll) and Christian music.
There are several myths or misunderstandings the Devil will clear up or set straight, such as marshmallows and the Book of Leviticus, which he claims to have written as a joke.
Delamont is an incredibly funny guy and Hell Yeah! An Evening With the Devil is one of those great Fringe shows that provides an escape from the grind, plenty of belly laughs, great political commentary and even a little food for thought. Winnipeg Free Press calls it “Funny as Hell!”
Tickets are available at the Key City Theatre box office and online.
