Input invited on proposed financial plan by March 24

Mayor Wayne Price

After much hard work, discussion and debate, City of Cranbrook Mayor Wayne Price and members of council invite residents and business owners to engage with them around the proposed 2023-2027 Five Year Financial Plan.

The proposed plan is expected to result in an overall increase of 5.87% or about $12.85 per month for the average residential property. Inflationary pressures have forced prices to rise across many commodities and services, impacting many of the city’s operating and project costs just like what our residents and businesses face.

“Supply chain issues, inflation and rising interest rates have all contributed to this being a very challenging budget year,” said Mayor Price. “Council appreciates the discipline and hard work of our finance team and each of our department directors which enabled us to prepare what we feel is a realistic budget.”

Copies of the document will be available on the city’s website or for pick up at City Hall beginning on Monday, March 13.

We ask that any of your comments be provided to us, in writing, which will be reviewed and considered by council at its regular meeting of Monday, March 27.

We ask that your comments be received at City Hall by 4 p.m., on Friday, March 24.
