Into the Wild this month at Cranbrook Arts

At the Gallery in March

Cranbrook Arts is excited to present its March exhibit, ‘Into the Wild’ by Monique Cudbertson. This exhibit will run from March 4-30.

Monique says that she spent her youth exploring the forests and lakes and rivers and mountains of the Cranbrook area. After creating a niche business in back country catering and working full time as an adventure chef for over a decade she decided it was time to wholeheartedly pursue her true passion as an artist.

Monique works primarily in acrylics and her paintings are inspired by the wild places she has explored and the adventures she has experienced. She can often be found hiking with camera in hand, capturing the beauty of the world around her for future paintings. Her love of nature and adventures shines through in all her work.

Come and see Monique as our artist in residence in the gallery March 6, 7, and 8 from noon to three each day. The public is invited to come and watch her at work.

Upcoming workshops

For the artist in you we have several workshops coming up. There are classes to entice the kids on spring break. With plans for a different activity on each day ranging from hammering copper, making a dream catcher, trying their hand at watercolour, creating a sock puppet or even making and looking into the wonder of a kaleidoscope.

Workshops will be held from 1 to 3:30 p.m. from Tuesday to Friday during the last two weeks of March.

To register, please come into the Gallery and speak to our Gallery administrator, Leya.

On March 30 we have beginner needle felting class for teenagers and adults where you will learn how to make a small owl. To find out more about Cranbrook Arts workshops go to their Website www.cranbrookarts.com, follow them on Facebook at Cranbrook Arts or Instagram at artscranbrook.

Cranbrook Arts would not exist without its team of volunteers who work in the store and are always looking for new volunteers who love to support the arts.
