Karin and Ken Bridge surprised into retirement
Kenny Bridge was speechless.
Ken and Karin Bridge stepped into Colombo Lodge Thursday, April 2, expecting to attend their granddaughter’s piano recital. Instead, they found the hall packed with friends and family on hand to celebrate the couple’s recent retirement.
The owners of landmark Cranbrook business Bridge Interiors underwent a seismic change March 26 when they stepped away from 125 Slater Road after 28 years of business.
It was also 28 years of constant philanthropy with countless local causes supported. It would not be a stretch to say Karin and Ken Bridge head to retirement as the most community minded business owners in Cranbrook’s history.
And that itself speaks volumes as the Key City is blessed with large hearted residents and businesses.
That approach to business, always with Ken’s boisterous and larger-than-life personality and Karin’s demure behind-the-scenes efficiency, explained the large number of people attending the surprise party and resonated in the words of speakers who lavished love and praise on the couple. Many were representatives of organizations helped by Bridge Interiors over the years.
Shortly after stepping into the hall, Ken was handed a microphone by emcee Barry Graham and the normally loquacious one struggled to find the words.
However, the couple posted a video that shares their thoughts.
“To our customers, our team, and the many charities and volunteers we’ve had the privilege to work with over the years, we are truly grateful,” Ken and Karin stated.
“This has been more than a business. It’s been relationships, memories, and a lifetime in this community.
“From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being part of the Bridge Interiors story.”
Hear directly from Ken and Karin, as they prepare to pass the keys to new ownership, City Furniture.
Congratulations Karin and Ken. Enjoy retirement!
