Ice is now being installed at the Kinsmen Arena, and the facility will be open again for public use starting on Saturday, October 11.

The city temporarily closed the Kinsmen Arena in late August 2025 to allow for important safety repairs, following the discovery of areas of chipping and peeling lead-based paint on the arena’s main beams.

The closure was a precaution to ensure the continued health and safety of all facility users.

A very special thank you to Home Hardware for their generous support in supplying the much-needed materials for this repair project. And a big thank you to Ken Betenia and our fantastic team of ice makers for their outstanding efforts to complete these important repairs at the Kinsmen Arena quickly and safely.

Thanks also to our residents, user groups, and event organizers for their understanding and flexibility while this important work was carried out.
