Kootenay ICE trade for netminder

The Kootenay ICE has acquired 1999-born goaltender Bailey Brkin and a fifth round draft pick in 2018 from the Swift Current Broncos for big forward Max Patterson.

Brkin played the 2016-17 season with the Calgary Mustangs of the Alberta Junior Hockey League. He had a 5.19 goals against average and a .890 save percentage in 42 regular season games.

“We look forward to Bailey joining our team, we believe he is ready to play in the Western Hockey League (WHL) and he will have an opportunity on our roster,” said Matt Cockell, President and General Manager. “The organization wishes Max the best of luck in Swift Current.”

Patterson, a 6’5″ winger from Kamloops, spent the past two seasons with the ICE, registering 15 goals and 10 assists in 127 WHL games. He scored two pre-season goals in three games for the ICE this year.

Don’t miss the 2017-18 ICE Home Opener presented by Jason Wheeldon Personal Real Estate Corp. on September 22.

Puck drop is 7 p.m. Ticket information will be announced early this week, visit ICEcountry.ca for details.
