Local support vital to Cranbrook’s largest festival

The Sam Steele Society is pleased to receive support in the amount of $2,500 from Western Financial Group for this year’s Sam Steele Days community festival June 15 – 18.

Western Financial Group has been involved with the non-profit Sam Steele Society for many years as the festival’s insurance provider. Last year they came on board as the Platinum Title Sponsor of the Sunday Central Fairgrounds and this year claimed Saturday’s Central Fairgrounds.

“We’re pleased with the decision to have Cranbrook’s largest community festival relocate the central fairgrounds to Balment Park, beside Western Financial Place,” said Sarah Vanlerberg, Branch Manager CR1, Western Financial Group.

The volunteer festival committee appreciates every dollar of local funding and every offering in kind, whether it’s product, service or expert advise. Local involvement is key to securing outside funding such as what has been achieved through the Columbia Basin Trust Community Initiatives Program and Heritage Canada.

Christy Wheeldon, Sam Steele Society Chair, has stated that directors have put extra effort into preparing for the success of the event they each oversee as they undertake the huge job of mapping the new location and reworking the parade route. They are all eager to welcome Cranbrook citizens and visitors and celebrate Canada 150 together at Sam Steele Days.
