Man arrested after robbery attempt
Shortly after 1 a.m. on January 30, Cranbrook RCMP received a report of an unknown male with a firearm outside a residence in the Wycliffe area.
Cranbrook RCMP members rushed to the scene and, upon arrival, observed the suspect flee on foot. Members quickly located the suspect nearby and took him into custody.
The male was held for court and later released with a scheduled appearance at Cranbrook Provincial Court on February 18, reported Cranbrook RCMP Detachment commander S/Sgt. Barry Graham.
Cranbrook RCMP have proposed nine different charges including Robbery, Assault with a Weapon, Utter Threats, Mischief and Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose.
The suspect was known to the occupants and it is believed to be a targeted incident, S/Sgt. Graham said.
