On September 1, at approximately 3 a.m., Cranbrook RCMP General Duty Officers responded to a call of a 29-year-old male stabbed at a residence in the 1600 block of 1A Street South, Cranbrook.

Life saving efforts were made by Cranbrook RCMP Officers, Cranbrook Fire and Emergency firefighters and BC Ambulance. However the male succumbed to the injuries at East Kootenay Regional Hospital.

A 26-year-old female on scene was taken into custody and has been charged with second degree murder and is appearing in court on September 4 in Cranbrook.

Cranbrook RCMP General Investigation Unit supported by General Duty, Forensic Identification Service and South East District Major Crime Unit continue to investigate.
