New Youth Ambassador team selected
The City of Cranbrook has a new Youth Ambassador Team following the Sweetheart of Sam Steele Youth Ambassador Pageant tonight (Friday).
The evening opened with the eight candidates honouring the theme of this year’s Sam Steele Days Festival ‘Salute the Boots’ as they performed a ‘stomp’ on stage.
They then entertained the crowd with speeches and talents that included figure skating, musical performances, singing, musical theatre, a comedic monologue, a showcase of dog obedience training and art.
Jelena Jensen was named the Sweetheart of Sam Steele, while Brianna McWhirter was named Princess of Sam Steele. Jensen also was awarded the talent award and community awareness scholarship.
The Toastmasters Public Speaking Award went to Shanae Thompson.
The new Youth Ambassador team and all of this year’s 2016 candidates will proudly be riding the City of Cranbrook float in the parade before attending a Banquet and Ball in their honour tomorrow night. Sunday, they will host their third annual Tea with the Princesses at Sunday in the Park.
