Obituary for Beverley Archibald
Beverley Archibald (June)
Jul 22, 1940 – Oct 23, 2012
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our Courageous Cancer Warrior, Beverley (Green) Archibald, loving Mother, Grandma and Great-Grandma.
She was born July 22, 1940 in Acme, Alberta and moved to Calgary with her family. Beverley became a cosmetologist and opened her own salon in the Palliser Hotel.
She met Lorne Archibald in 1959 and they later married and had two children, Melitta and Dean. Beverley and Lorne settled their family in Cranbrook in 1968. She was a beautician at the Walmar Hair Salon and Lorne the Service Manager at Kimbrook Motors. Once Dean was born in 1970, Beverley decided to leave the work force and concentrate on raising her two children for whom her love was immeasurable.
Mom took great pride in building the family home in Silver Creek where she had great fun raising farm animals, playing with her children and meeting with the neighbourhood ladies to do crafts every week. Mom was a real artisan, crocheting and knitting and then selling her much requested works of art at local craft fairs and events.
Beverley had a stoke on her 40th birthday but she was a warrior even then and battled her way back out of a wheelchair to continue to raise her family. She and Lorne were extremely active members of the Eagles Aerie #3032 and Beverley served as president of the Ladies Auxiliary 1979-1980. They both took their roles in being part of that great service club very seriously.
Sadly, she lost her best friend and husband Lorne far too early when he died from a heart attack in 1989 but as the warrior she was, she battled on. She spent her time from 1989 until her last day with her children Melitta (Gregory) Ball and Dean (Brandi) Archibald, her grandchildren Justin Ball, Courtenay Ball, Sabrina (Dustin Keller) Archibald, Brandon Archibald and her first great grandchild Donatello Archibald-Keller.
She was predeceased by her Father and Mother, Reuben and Melitta Green (Kamloops, BC) and is also mourned by her sister Janis Hazard (Courtenay, BC), brothers Kelly and Rod Green (Kamloops, BC) sister-in-law Shannon (Barry) Archibald-Lacasse (Golden, BC), brothers-in-law Aaron (Rose) Archibald (Golden, BC), and Doug (Alvina) Archibald (Cranbrook, BC) along with many nieces and nephews, all whom she loved dearly.
As per her wishes, there will be no service and she requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made in her name to the Eagle Aerie #3032 or to the Ladies Auxiliary #3032 to be donated in Beverley’s name to local charities. The family would like to thank Dr. Caroline Shilhan and the Home Care nursing staff who worked tirelessly to ensure Mom could have her last wish of dying at home with her family.
