Obituary for Kenneth Blanchard
Kenneth Blanchard
Jul 12, 1920 – Sep 2, 2012
On the morning of Sunday, September 2, 2012, with his family by his side, Kenneth Leroy Blanchard passed away peacefully at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital at the age of 92 years.
Ken was born on July 12, 1920 near Momart, Saskatchewan to William and Ella Blanchard. Ken leaves to mourn his passing, his beloved wife of 60 years, Carol, his daughter Debbie (Art) Cope and son Brian, granddaughters, Chelsie (Isaac) Tierney, Kylie (Troy) Newton and his great grandchildren Azalea and Thor, brothers Dick (Alice), Don (Joyce), sister’s Doris and Jean, sister-in-law Eileen and their families. He was predeceased by his parents, brothers Earl and Sonny (sister-in-law Eva) and sister Eleanor.
Ken was a quiet man who enjoyed spending time with his family, especially at places like Cherry Creek, Wasa Lake and St. Mary’s Lake. He held a special place in his heart for his granddaughters Chelsie and Kylie whom he spent many an hour with over the years. Ken had a wealth of outdoor knowledge which he passed on to his children and grandchildren. Grampy had a green thumb and took great pride in his beautiful garden where he spent many hours caring for his delicious fruit and veggies. He loved to watch all sports, especially hockey and never missed Hockey Night in Canada.
To our husband, dad and grampy the perfect day was one spent enjoying the simplest things in life with those he held closest to his heart. We love you and miss you, until we meet again. At Ken’s request, there will be no funeral service.
