OCP change requested to allow for townhome project

City of Cranbrook council May 29 passed the first reading of an Official Community Plan (OCP) amendment bylaw that if approved will allow for the construction of up to 22 dwelling units in a townhome project located at 28-11th Street South.

The city has received an application to amend the OCP from Victory Arch Development to change the land designation from ‘Low Density Residential’ to ‘Medium Density Residential.’

The proposed amendment will allow for consideration of a zoning amendment to allow for up to 22 dwelling units be developed on the site in the form of townhomes.

The applicant has provided a tentative site plan with this application; however, this will need to be reviewed further and approved at the Development Permit stage, a city Engineering and Development Services report noted.

“This proposal is subject to change at the development permitting stage, however, as noted above, the applicant has proposed five four-unit stacked townhouse buildings for a total of 20 units with common amenity space for the residents.”
