Permits approved for proposed 75-unit apartment complex
City of Cranbrook council April 11 approved the application for a development permit to enable construction to begin on a 75-unit apartment building to be located at 1001 – 10th Street North.
The project, being constructed by West Urban Developments Ltd., will be a five-storey, 75-unit building with a mix of studio, one and two bedroom, market rental apartments.
The building is sited with its thin axis aligned north and south. Adjacent residential properties to the north, west and east are separated by surface parking area, side road and road right-of-way, an Engineering and Development Services report outlined.
The building will feature apartment balconies, elevator, underground parking, and a dog wash station. A bicycle parking rack is available outside the building with dedicated bicycle parking in the parkade. The site includes a dog enclosure and well landscaped site area with pathways and benches for enjoyment and privacy, the city report noted.
Council also approved a development variance permit for the proposed building, reducing the number of parking spaces from two spaces per dwelling unit to 1.5, for a total of 114 off-street parking spaces on the property.
