Please scrutinize candidates for a sense of reality
Letter to the Editor
NDP Member of Parliament Bonita Zarrillo (Port Moody—Coquitlam) recently asked, “Is indoor skating ice even a necessity anymore? Can every ice sport be done without ice and different equipment? Just pondering the climate impact of human made indoor ice.”
Okay. We’ve just had the Stanley Cup visit us in Cranbrook. The Canadian Junior hockey team just won the World Junior Hockey championship. OMG. They all played on indoor ice and therefore added to the climate crisis.
How do people like this NDP MP come up with such ludicrous ideas? I don’t need to tell anyone living in Canada the benefits of indoor skating ice. I don’t need to tell anyone how my kids, grandkids and even myself have spent countless hours on the ice. The social and physical benefits are countless.
However, I digress. I just ask that the next time there is a federal election you really scrutinize your candidates and make sure that people like Ms. Zarrillo have some sense of reality.
Doug McLachlan,
