Public help sought in identifying suspect in youth assault
Warning – The following contains details of violence towards a young child.
Cranbrook RCMP is looking for anyone who may have information in regard to an assault on a minor that occurred in the Walmart parking lot on May 26.
At approximately 5 p.m., an unknown adult female suspect exited the Walmart store at 2100 Willowbrook Drive with two young children, one of whom was a boy aged approximately five-to seven-years old. The suspect grabbed the young boy, punched him, screamed at him and then hit him in the head with a four-litre jug of milk with enough force that it broke the container.
The suspect is described as:
– Adult female, possibly in her 30s;
– Caucasian;
– Long, dark colored hair (around mid-back length) tied back in a ponytail;
– Wearing light color jean shorts with black sleeveless shirt or tank top and sandals.
The victim is described as:
– Male, approximately five-to-seven-years old;
– Caucasian;
– Short, dark hair;
– Wearing a white shirt with dark colored long sleeves, dark pants and sandal,
The suspect’s vehicle is described as:
– Dark coloured, newer SUV;
The adult female was also with a younger, female child (possibly three-to-five years old) with short, light color hair wearing a light shirt with light pants and sandals.
Cranbrook RCMP has been actively investigating this incident, however, have not been able to identify the adult female or youth through other investigational means.
