RCMP investigating aggravated assault
Cranbrook RCMP is currently investigating a horrific assault that took place over the weekend.
Early Sunday morning RCMP received a call to the East Kootenay Regional Hospital emergency room where staff advised that a female had attended for stitches due to a severe cut to her face.
RCMP attended and spoke with the victim, who had a slash leading from her ear down her jawline ending at her chin. The victim required a significant amount of stitches to close the gash.
Subsequent investigation led the RCMP to the arrest of a 37-year-old Cranbrook resident. The male is currently in custody on charges of aggravated assault.
“This was not a random incident and the victim knew her attacker,” reported Cst. Katie Forgeron of Cranbrook RCMP.
