RCMP investigating thefts of gas and mischief to vehicles
Cranbrook RCMP has responded to multiple reports of theft of gas from vehicles between February 26 and March 3.
In all incidents the gas tanks of the vehicles were drilled and the fuel removed while the vehicles were parked overnight in unoccupied parking lots. Not only have these incidents caused significant damage to the vehicles involved, the manner in which the gas being removed creates a possible fire risk.
Video evidence of attempted thefts may be valuable in helping police identify those involved. The new digital evidence platform recently made available to Cranbrook RCMP allows most users to easily upload video data to a secure police site; this link will be shared with those who contact Cranbrook RCMP.
Cranbrook RCMP request anyone with information regarding these thefts to call the local non-emergency line at 250-489-3471 or Crime Stoppers at 1800-222-8477.
