I am so excited to announce that I am competing once again!

On July 5, I will be competing in #BATTLEPANCAKE at the Calgary Stampede! #BATTLEPANCAKE is a pancake cook off between Iron Chef Michael Noble; Top Chef Canada, Nicole Gomes; and of course from MasterChef Canada, me!

I will be creating a homemade sausage and pancake combination, and serving it to 500 people. Each of the 500 people will vote for their favorite pancake and sausage, leaving one of us crowned the winner!

While I am absolutely honoured to be asked to be a part of this competition, I am definitely a little nervous. I am competing against two extremely talented professional chefs, and am the only B.C. competitor. I am definitely feeling a little disadvantaged. But for anyone who knows me, that never stops me and I am excited at the opportunity to show my stuff! However, of most importance is why I do this. This event is a fundraiser for Special Olympics Calgary, and is part of #bikiniespy.

 #bikiniespy is a Stampede-themed fundraiser for Special Olympics Calgary (SOC) happening on Saturday, July 5. Espy raises money for SOC by asking women of all ages and sizes to line up outside the store in their bikinis and cowboy boots for a free Stampede outfit with a donation to SOC. Last year, they raised over $35,000.

They’re incredibly impressive Chefs. I am honored to be part of a competition with them, as it’s giving me the opportunity to get to know them better. The culinary world is one of mentorship, so I feel blessed when given the opportunity to be a part of such an event with such unbelievable talent.

Now I do have to give one last shout out to the amazing woman who is organizing this event. Meet Megan Szanik. Megan is the owner of Espy Experience, a fun little boutique clothing store on 9th in Calgary.

So to all those in the Kootenays, this is your official invitation to come eat pancakes and vote for your favorite pancake at #BATTLEPANCAKE on July 5! And at the very least, wish me luck!
