Rita Chiarelli coming to Key City Theatre
Rita Chiarelli has been ripping on the guitar for decades, from playing with Ronnie Hawkins to Colin Linden to highly regarded solo albums with Stony Plain Records.
The outstanding blues player from Hamilton, Ontario will be coming to Cranbrook this fall for a one night smoking show at Key City Theatre.
Galen to justify his pick of the week and to explain what makes Rita Chiarelli such an exceptional performance. We asked him two questions:
Key City Theatre Managing Director Galen Olstead explained why he booked Chiarelli.
“Rita is a legendary blues performer with an amazing backing band so it wasn’t difficult to agree to have her back at the Key City Theatre. With an artist of Rita’s stature, it’s more difficult to get all of the pieces for the artist to line up so I am very happy that everything fell into place and we were able to be part of the tour,” he said, adding she brings “raw, blistering guitar and scorched vocals that makes your hair stand on end.”
