Sam Steele Days will be bursting with activities

On the Saturday of Sam Steele Days (June 18), BC Transit will be offering free busing throughout the community for the whole day so leave that car at home and take advantage of not having to find a spot to park.

The activities for the day will start off with a pancake breakfast being hosted on Baker Street with the St. Eugene Golf and Resort Sam Steele Days Grand Parade (pictured above) that you cannot miss to follow at 10:30 a.m.

From there the Western Financial Groups Saturday Central fairgrounds will be starting with many events and shows going on. We will have many booths from all over B.C. coming in to host different information sessions as well as games for the kids/adults to attend.

Our Manitoulin Transport Sam Steele Market will be in full swing at 11 a.m. with over 35 different market vendors coming in to showcase their goods and products. There is something for everyone to fall in love with or try.

Strongman, hosted by Fitness Inc., is a must see and will run throughout Saturday and available to all festival attendees to watch.

Spring Honda Taste of Sam Steele will be showcasing our local food vendors from throughout the Kooteneys and you will not want to miss out on all the goodies they have to offer. You might even want to try three or four different food trucks!

Total Pet/ Pet Valu Community Talent Showcase will be kicking off at noon and will be showcasing many talents from within the community. You do not want to miss out on the performances available for all patrons to watch.

At 1 p.m. don’t miss the Wiener Dog Races!

What else will keep your family busy and having fun?

BA Blacktop Giant Inflatable Funland. There will be five bouncy houses available for kids to have fun in for hours.

BA Blacktop Balls of Steele Bocce tournament will be starting up again at noon until 8 p.m. in the Molson Coors Sam Steele Days Festival Beer Gardens available to all patrons over 19 years of age.

Don’t forget to check out the skateboard competition and Demo too!

At 5 p.m., try your roller-skating skills at the Curling Rink sponsored by the Cranbrook Rotary Club.

And to finish off the day, the Cranbrook Bucks will be hosting BC/DC for adults at 8 p.m. Beer gardens will be available at this location as well.

Don’t forget to check out during the day: Beach Volleyball at the College of the Rockies; the soccer tournament that is going on up at Moir Park and at Marysville; as well as the Sam Steele ball tournament that is being hosted at Moir Park, and the quads.

The fun doesn’t end there though as Sunday will kick off with the annual Fireman’s Fishing Derby at Idlewild park and a community worship service starting at 10 a.m. at Rotary Park.

Join the Eagles for bingo at noon.
