Search on for Youth Ambassador candidates

For the past 51 years, the Sweetheart Youth Ambassador Program has offered young women in Cranbrook training in leadership and personal development, and the search is on for candidates for the 2017 program.

sweetheart-society“Applications for the 2017 program are currently being accepted and the deadline is Monday, December 5,” said Sweetheart Program Coordinator Karin Penner. “There are so many life-lessons shared through the course of the program including everything from personal finances and budgeting to public speaking and resume writing.”

The program is open to all girls in Cranbrook in Grades 10 and 11. The one-page application form is easy to fill out and is available from the 2016 Youth Ambassadors, by contacting Penner at 250-426-2957 and online.

“It’s six months that can change your life. It certainly changed mine,” said program assistant Loree Duczek. “The program is focused on helping youth develop self confidence and gain valuable training. There is also a focus on community involvement and volunteering and the potential to earn scholarships.”

The program itself runs from January to the third week in June. There will be an information meeting on December 8 at the Heritage Inn for potential candidates and their parents/guardians to learn detailed information about the program.
