Secrets, choices and consequences fill CCT’s ’26–27 season

Following a dynamic and nearly sold-out previous season, Cranbrook Community Theatre (CCT) is pleased to announce its 2026–27 lineup—a compelling trio of plays that delve into the hidden truths, moral crossroads, and unintended consequences that shape our lives.

From psychological mystery to existential comedy to classic farce, this season offers audiences stories that are gripping, funny, and deeply human.

Fall: Blood Relations – October 16 to 31, 2026

CCT opens the season with Blood Relations by Sharon Pollock, directed by Amy Dettling and produced by Rory Bruce. Set years after the infamous murders of her father and step‑mother, the play centres on Lizzie Borden as she engages in an elaborate game of role‑playing with a friend who is an actress—revisiting the events of that notorious day to finally confront the question: “Lizzie, did you?”

Part courtroom drama, part psychological thriller, Blood Relations challenges audiences to consider truth, memory, and the stories we tell ourselves in order to survive. This unsettling and provocative production sets a powerful tone for the season.

Winter: Becky’s New Car – February 19 to March 6, 2027

Directed by Jennifer Inglis, Becky’s New Car is a sharply observed modern comedy about choice, temptation, and the roads not taken. Becky Foster finds herself stuck in middle age, middle management, and a stalled marriage—until a chance encounter with a socially awkward, grief‑stricken millionaire offers her a startling glimpse of an entirely different life.

Breaking theatrical convention, the play invites the audience directly into Becky’s inner world, turning them into confidants and co‑conspirators. Funny, disarming, and unexpectedly poignant, Becky’s New Car asks how far we might go when presented with the possibility of starting over.

Spring: SINNERS – May 21 to June 5, 2027

Closing the season is SINNERS, directed by Matt Van Boeyen and produced by Nikki Van Boeyen—a farce with a deliciously modern edge. When a furniture store owner’s affair with the local minister’s wife is interrupted by the minister’s unexpected return, a simple indiscretion spirals into an intricate web of lies.

As police officers, parishioners, and members of the women’s auxiliary arrive on the scene,

secrets unravel at dizzying speed. Packed with physical comedy, escalating misunderstandings, and comic chaos, SINNERS is a fast‑paced and satisfying finale that proves the truth always comes out—usually at the worst possible time.

Together, these works invite audiences to laugh, gasp, and reflect on the decisions we make—and the secrets we keep—when no one is watching.

In addition to our exciting season, we are thrilled to announce the return of ‘The Abbott Awards.’

Join us June 14 to celebrate the very best in community theatre. CCT members will be able to vote for their favourite moments from the past season and recognize the hard work of so many to create “theatre for the community, by the community.

More details to come in the coming months.

Audition and ticket information for our upcoming season will be announced soon. Cranbrook Community Theatre looks forward to welcoming audiences for another unforgettable season of live theatre.
