Seed Library open at Cranbrook Public Library
In simple terms it is just like it sounds. You borrow seeds from Cranbrook Public Library and return seeds to the Cranbrook Public Library, almost.
“Members of the Cranbrook Public Library Gardeners ‘borrow’ free seeds from the library at planting time,” explained Shellie Brun, Public Outreach Coordinator.
“You may borrow three packages of seeds at a time and at the end of the growing season, you save seeds from the plants and return a portion of the seeds to the library for our next year Seed Library.
“We have vegetable, herb and flower seeds as well as rare, open pollinated and heirloom seeds that are suitable for our area,” she said.
By helping people cultivate locally raised seeds, the Cranbrook Seed Library aims to grow nourishing food, improve our health and healthy relationship with ourselves and with the land.
It is also a great opportunity to learn about growing for new gardeners.
