Sing, connect and celebrate at Chorfest 2026

A weekend of music, community, and inspiration in Cranbrook

The flagship festival of the British Columbia Choral Federation comes to Cranbrook this year.

Taking place Friday, May 29 to Sunday, May 31, this vibrant choral gathering will bring together hundreds of singers and audience members for an unforgettable weekend of music-making at the Key City Theatre, co-hosted by Mountain Song of Cranbrook, directed by Evan Bueckert, and the Kimberley Community Choir, directed by Marta Zeegers.

Designed for amateur and community choir singers, Chorfest offers a rare opportunity to join a massed choirlearn inspiring repertoire, and work with some of the province’s most celebrated musical leaders. Whether you’re a seasoned chorister or simply love to sing, we would love to have you join us.

Participants will be guided by acclaimed clinician Fiona Blackburn, whose dynamic and uplifting approach has inspired singers around the world. Joining her is accomplished pianist Tim Plait, providing expert musical collaboration throughout the weekend.

The festival repertoire celebrates Canada’s rich musical landscape, featuring works inspired by rivers, woodlands, and poetry by iconic writers such as Emily Carr and Bliss Carman. Highlights include folk songs, contemporary Canadian compositions, and a special collaborative performance with the BC Youth Choir.

Chorfest 2026 offers a rich and engaging experience, including:

  • Full choir rehearsals and workshops;
  • A lively gala banquet with performances;
  • Two Grand Performances featuring the BC Youth Choir and the BC Teen Choirs on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. and the Songs from Home Finale performance Sunday at 3 p.m.

Audiences are invited to attend the concerts and experience the power and beauty of live choral music. Concert tickets are available through the Key City Theatre Box Office.
