Spring Honda Fun Run June 5
Organizers are excited to announce this year’s Spring Honda Fun Run will be a ‘colour run!’
Imagine hundreds of people having a colour fight before the start of the run, then getting gently “blasted” several times throughout the race so when you return to the finish you and your running friends look like a bright rainbow of colours!
This is the sixth annual Spring Honda Fun Run and we are thrilled to add this new, fun option which is a first in Cranbrook! The race will be held on Sunday, June 5 at a new, earlier time 9 a.m. at Moir Park.
You have the choice of entering the 5k un-timed walk by donation, 5k or 10k Colour Run.
Getting Coloured is optional, in case you want to run a more serious race!
The route heads out from scenic Moir Park towards the Northstar Rails-to-Trails. The 5km will turn around through a quiet rural route, and the 10k will cover 2.5 kilometres on the beautiful trail. We welcome competitive runners as well as those who are out to run for the first time and everyone in between!
We once again have the School and Corporate Challenges.
For the School Challenge the school with the highest percentage of participation will be awarded a trophy and $300.
The Corporate Challenge requires a minimum of four participants in the same category (5 or 10k run). The team with the fastest four combined times will win bragging rights and a sweet trophy to display at your workplace.
Another new addition this year is the Kiddies Obstacle Race!
For a Twoonie entry fee, young runners between one and eight-years-old can get coloured, run over and under fun obstacles and win some great prizes! Start time for the Kiddies race is 10:15 a.m. and registration is just prior to the race start time. We hope families will come up to this great event together and enjoy a day of fitness and fresh air while supporting a great cause.
For those who are running to achieve their personal best times, we have chip timing available again from Results Canada, which allows for accurate timing and instant results! Medals and prizes will be awarded to the top male and females in each age category.
All proceeds from this event go to the ALS Society of BC. ALS (also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease) is a degenerative neuromuscular disease that causes those with the disease to lose the use of voluntary muscles. There is no known cure for ALS and money raised will go to those affected by the disease in our community to help them purchase equipment and aid them in coping with this condition. We are proud to have raised over $40,000 in the past five years, and are excited to add to that total this year!
We look forward to seeing a great turnout again this year and thank our wonderful title sponsor, Spring Honda for their generous support!
Registration is available in person at Core Fitness, or on-line at Springhondafunrun.com. Like our Facebook Page to keep updated to upcoming information.
