Storm clean up continues into residential areas

With very little new snow falling overnight Monday, snow clearing crews with City of Cranbrook Public Works were able to get a great jump on the main arterials, emergency and transit routes last night and operations are now moving to secondary streets and residential areas today.

As crews move into these areas, if you have vehicles parked in the street and are able to move them off street, it would greatly help in the plowing process.

With the snow removal happening in residential areas, there will be some big windrows while cleanup is being done including through the downtown core. Drivers and pedestrians are asked to please be very cautious when driving by windrows as visibility is significantly reduced.

Many lanes and cul-de-sacs throughout Cranbrook are still at least a couple of days away before plows will be able to reach them.

BC Transit service is back up and running today, after being shut down Monday. Garbage collection is not being done today, but will resume on Wednesday. Those who were supposed to have garbage collected the past two days will have it collected during their regular pickup days next week.

The patience and understanding of our community has been tremendous the past couple of days as we work through the snow cleanup work. Thank you!
