Suspicious person report leads to arrest

On March 13, at approximately 9:13 pm, police were called to a residence on Corral Boulevard for a report of a break and enter in progress.

The homeowner reported that a man had entered the home by breaking through a glass door of the residence. The suspect allegedly confronted the occupants inside the home, causing understandable distress, before fleeing the scene on foot.

Officers arrived and conducted an extensive search of the region, including Police Dog Services track, but the suspect was not located at that time.

On the morning of March 15, Cranbrook RCMP received a suspicious person complaint of a man matching the earlier description of the suspect. Officers attended immediately, located the individual, and arrested him without incident.

Eric James Shepherd has been charged with break and entering a dwelling house. He remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing.

Cranbrook RCMP thanks residents for their vigilance and cooperation as officers worked to identify and locate the suspect.
