Symphony Stealing Back the Holidays
The Symphony of the Kootenays is helping launch a warm and joyous Christmas season with ‘Stealing Back the Holidays’ — its second concert of 2016/17 — featuring a special rendition of ‘How The Grinch Stole Christmas.’
Two concerts are scheduled at the Key City Theatre in Cranbrook: Saturday, Dec. 3 at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 4, at 3 p.m. The ever-popular open rehearsal runs Saturday, noon to 1:30 p.m.
Kicking off the show is ‘Winter’ from Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons. Following this, another Kootenay legend will be featured: vocalist Allison Girvan of Nelson. Allison’s voice is known throughout Western Canada and she will be presenting some of the season’s best songs arranged for vocal soloists and Symphony Orchestras.
The Symphony will then present one of the most recognizable classics from this time of year — Dr. Seuss’s ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas,’ featuring Michael Jones and the Selkirk Secondary School Choir. Many of us can still remember waiting for this brilliant TV special to air and how it reminded us about the spirit that the holidays are all about.
Tickets are available at the Key City Theatre box office, or online.
