The City of Cranbrook reports it has been alerted about some residents receiving text messages claiming that they owe money on parking tickets.

“The text does not specifically say it is from ‘City of Cranbrook,’ but it is requesting the user click on a link within the message. DO NOT CLICK THE LINK! Please report the text as junk and delete the message.

“We will never text you about a parking infraction. Please be aware and stay safe online,” said city Corporate Communications Officer Chris Zettel.

“We had a similar issue with the same parking ticket payment scam back in January,” he added.
