Three new wildfires reported in region
BC Wildfire Service is this morning reporting three new wildfires from the thunderstorm activity that passed through the South Country area last night.
There is a .02 hectare fire east of Kiakho Lakes, about eight km west of the city. Lighting is the suspected cause of this fire.
Two other fires are located close together 28 km southeast of Cranbrook and six km from Cutts Marina and area.
The Plumbob Creek fire is considered lightning caused and is about .1 ha in size. And less than a mile southeast from that fire is another blaze, about .02 ha in size, also in the Plumbob Creek area.
Two fires are also being reported northwest of Golden, including one in the Moberley Creek area, seven km north of the town that is about one-tenth of a ha.
The second fire at Wisted Creek, about 38 km west of Golden, is about 4.1 ha. Both fires were believed to be ignited by lighting.
